Random Moose facts
A coworker and I were talking today (over our company instant message of course), and he told me he was starving he said, “I’m going to eat like a moose tonight.“
And then at the same time we both typed, “Do moose eat a lot?“ So I had to look it up. (Hey, it’s slow here and I’m between cases.)
According to this website: http://www.thebigzoo.com/Animals/Moose.asp ...“ Moose eat the twigs, roots, bark, and shoots of woody plants. In summer, they feed mostly on water plants such as the water lily and pondweed. During the winter they browse on conifers and eat their needle-like leaves. A moose needs 40+ pounds of food a day.
I posted this on my pug forum for a member who’s in Alaska.
She informed me that: “BECAUSE they eat all that wood, their droppings (moose nuggets as they are called up here) are dry and don’t smell. Jewelry is even made out of moose nuggets for the tourists.
As for the 40+ lbs a day… A full-grown bull moose can weight over 1,500 lbs, I can believe they eat that much!“
And yes, she will be sending me a moose nugget key chain that I will be presenting to my coworker. Yeah, it’s been slow here. Slow enough for me to brush up on my moose trivia.
And slow enough to give my blog readers something to waste their time reading. (Hey, you all asked for an update. You didn’t say it had to be quality. LOL)
